Wilms tumour is the most common malignant embryonic tumour of childhood. Treatments are surgical resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Regional anaesthesia for children has become more popular in recent years. Intraoperative extradural analgesia reduces stress responses to abdominal surgery and the need for general anaesthetics in infants. Regional techniques are also used for the purpose of post-operative pain control. In this case report we present the use of an intraoperative continuous epidural analgesia technique in a child who was operated for Wilms tumour under general anaesthesia.
